According to a report from F4WOnline.com, Vince McMahon has told Rey Mystery that he wants him back in the ring. As previously reported, Mysterio met with McMahon and Triple H backstage on Nov. 3 in Buffalo, New York, however details about their meeting are just coming to light.
Mysterio’s contract was renewed by McMahon in June when his current deal was set to expire. An “injury” clause in each superstars’ contract allows the company to extend their required dates if officials believe that the before mentioned superstar owes the company more time. Mysterio was the first documented case of this clause being enacted.
According to previous reports, Mysterio had a “hand shake” agreement with Triple H in regards to his WWE deal. When it was to expire in June, he would be free to leave the company and work for someone else. However, McMahon did not agree to this notion, and extended Mysterio’s contract until April of 2015.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Mysterio met with McMahon and Triple H for the first time in months to discuss his current contract on Nov. 3. McMahon reportedly told Mysterio that he wants him back in the ring working almost a full-time schedule.
It was said that McMahon ran the meeting and made it known that he was still in charge of all things talent-related, even though Triple H is the Executive Vice President of Talent and Live Events. Following the meeting, the WWE creative team was told to come up with ideas for Mysterio’s return, as the company expects him to return to work between now and WrestleMania 31.
Editor’s Note:
There’s no WAY Mysterio can survive a full-time schedule. His knees can’t take it. I foresee more injuries in the near future if he returns for a full load of in-ring time.
