A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that WWE CEO Vince McMahon may have been frustrated with Cody Rhodes Monday Night during the main event tag match on RAW. While The Usos faced The Shield in the main event of the WWE’s flagship program, Rhodes and brother Goldust were at the announce table doing commentary, and this is where McMahon had an issue.
Apparently, according to one source, McMahon was audibly frustrated with Rhodes backstage, who was given the creative orders to be aggressive on the commentary and have a major presence out there. McMahon felt that Rhodes was being merely responsive, only giving babyface answers to whatever questions were being thrown his way by JBL, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Michael Cole.
When JBL began to get aggressive with Rhodes, pushing him to give him heated responses, McMahon was in JBL’s headset telling him what to say. McMahon reportedly uses JBL as his “voice” at the table, at least more than Lawler or Cole. Another source of the Wrestling Observer said that McMahon wasn’t mad or frustrated, but he definitely got in JBL’s headset and pushed him to go after Rhodes for more emotional commentary.
