As we reported earlier this week, Jack Swagger was arrested Tuesday night in Biloxi, Mississippi for DUI, speeding, and possession of marijuana. The Associated Press has released this article, which is getting picked up and published in numerous print and online news publications across the country. In the article, it was stated that if convicted, Swagger could face fines of $188 for his speeding violation, $437 for the possession of marijuana, and $1,300 for the DUI (if it’s his first offense). The DUI charge carries a mandatory court appearance and he could lose his driver’s license for 90 days.
Gulfport city prosecutor Kirk Clark said, “the court has allowed some defendants in limited circumstances to plead guilty to DUI without a court appearance. That only happens when an attorney enters a plea by affidavit and the defendant signs a notarized waiver of rights. We have never recommended mere fines and fees only on a DUI,” Clark said. “We always recommend the maximum sentence of two days in jail for first offenders. That time can be suspended but only on completion of certain court-ordered conditions like probation, classes, AA meetings, etc.”
Swagger is currently the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship and scheduled to face WHC Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania 29. WWE has yet to comment on Swagger’s arrest, but it should be noted that they continue to release promos with Swagger and Zeb Coulter (in character and breaking kayfabe) in response to Glenn Beck’s comments this past Tuesday.
