Reports from F4Wonline.com are providing an update on Ric Flair being used on WWE television. As previously reported, Flair has been signed to a WWE deal which would see him used on TV more. However, WWE creative has yet to come up with something viable for the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, and he is set to only be used “here and there.”
The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Flair was initially set to manage Miz upon his return, but when the character Miz was going to portray changed, so did those plans. Basically, Flair is just sitting on the side lines collecting a check at the moment.
In regards to the segment Flair appeared in during “Monday Night Raw” just before WWE “Battleground” with Renee Young, just about everything that was said was entirely scripted. With Flair acting…well, like Flair and hitting on Young, many fans wondered if Flair was intoxicated and was pulling a “Joe Namath.” However, this wasn’t the case, as Flair was asked to say everything about Young and her “short dress.”
There was a funny improved line from Flair during the segment. He mentioned “things he’d done in Richmond,” which is where “RAW’ was that night, and he told the crowd to ask their mothers and fathers about those things. It was classic Flair.
Flair’s next WWE television appearance will be during the Hulk Hogan Birthday Celebration on Aug. 11 during the “SummerSlam” go-home edition of “Monday Night Raw.” Joining Flair in that segment will be “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and others.
Editor’s Note:
It’s RIC FLAIR!! You can’t come up with ANYTHING for him? Christian I can understand…but Flair?! Just send him out there to do commentary, and have him drop an elbow on his jacket.
