United States Championship Match confirmed for WrestleMania 31
During the March 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” it was confirmed that John Cena would meet Rusev at WrestleMania on March 29. Rusev’s manager Lana accepted Cena’s challenge on behalf of Rusev, adding the stipulation of the title to the match in the process.
Cena had been asking for a WWE “Fastlane” rematch for weeks, after he lost to Rusev via submission at the event. However, Rusev continuously refused to face Cena again on the company’s biggest stage of the year, WrestleMania.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion attacked Rusev during the March 9 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” locking him in the STF, and causing him to pass out. He then woke up the United States Champion with a bottle of water, then applied the move yet again.
Lana would convince Cena to stop his attack by accepting his challenge and giving him the match at WrestleMania 31 on March 29. Cena and Rusev is now officially on the match card for WrestleMania, which will emanate live from Santa Clara, California on March 29 on the WWE Network.
