According to a new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the sixth season of WWE “Tough Enough” will begin filming at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in July. As previously reported, the entire season of the show is set to debut on the WWE Network sometime in the late third-quarter of 2014.
“Tough Enough” has been a WWE reality program that has been off-and-on again since 2001 and originally aired on MTV. Initially set up like “American Idol” where competitors fought for a WWE contract, “Tough Enough” has seen variations in structure over the years.
As far as season six is concerned, it is uncertain as to how the show will be constructed, but some believe that it may just be centered around developmental talent who come in for a try-out, then get called back. Many new-comers and independent talents come in for try-outs and never make it to WWE television. Most recently, the American Wolves tried out for WWE contracts, even competing on WWE NXT as the American Pitbulls. However, they were not signed to WWE deals and are currently working for TNA Wrestling.
The show will reportedly be filmed at the WWE Performance Center over a six-week period of time. George Barrios, WWE executive, even mentioned “Tough Enough” during a recent investors conference call, saying the company didn’t mean to reveal that the program would be coming back soon during a previous investor meeting, and that he would not be spoiling any other surprises set to come on the WWE Network.
Editor’s Note:
I’d really like I’d really like to see “Tough Enough” be a competition like it originally was…as long as they send Triple H in there to punk the cast like he did in 2002. That was amazing. Youtube that if you’ve never seen it.
