WWE’s annual December Pay-Per-View “TLC” will be offered for free in the UK. According to a new report from Dave Meltzer and F4Wonline.com, the event will be offered at no charge by the company possibly due to their on-going negotiations with Sky Sports in regards to the WWE Network.
As previously reported, the WWE Network was set to launch in the United Kingdom on Nov. 3, but was put on hold just minutes before the promoted release date. WWE CEO Vince McMahon even went as far as to record a special apology video to UK fans in regards to the matter.
Sky Sports then claimed that the WWE Network would be available overseas as an actual network channel, not an over-the-top streaming service. Meltzer writes,
“The TLC show is being offered for free in the U.K. That may be some sort of an offshoot of the negotiations between WWE and Sky regarding the WWE Network.
It had previously been announced with the new Sky contract with WWE that all PPVs would be on Sky Box Office (PPV) rather than Sky Sports (part of the monthly Sky package at no extra price), but that officially doesn’t go into effect until next year. Of course next year, the value of the PPV franchise becomes negligible.”
Regardless of the reasoning, WWE “TLC” will be free in the UK on Dec. 14.
