Stipulation Added to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at “Extreme Rules”
A stipulation has been added to the upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match between Seth Rollins and Randy Orton at “Extreme Rules” on April 26. During the tapings of “Monday Night Raw” at the O2 Arena in London, England, it was revealed that the bout will take place inside of a Steel Cage, and that Orton will not be allowed to use his RKO maneuver.
Rollins won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 on March 29. He was the first man to ever cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania, and use the contract to interject into an ongoing bout and make it a Triple Threat Match.
Rollins would steal the victory after curb stomping Roman Reigns and pinning him for the one-two-three. 13 days later, it was announced that Orton would be the No. 1 Contender for Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship, finally giving him his long awaited rematch for the title that he lost at WrestleMania XXX.
Orton and Rollins have been feuding since Orton’s return to the company just before WrestleMania 31. Earlier in the broadcast, Orton bested Rollins in a Singles Match on March 29, however, it Rollins standing with the title held high would be the last image of the night.
During the April 13 edition of “RAW,” Orton and Rollins appear in the main event segment of the show. Rollins, while sitting in a recliner, choses to ban Orton’s RKO move from the match. In response, Orton choses to have the match contested inside of a steel cage.
“Extreme Rules” airs on the WWE Network on April 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
