During the Feb. 10 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Seth Rollins, Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and JBL all acknowledged the crowd as they chanted “CM Punk,” each belittling CM Punk in their own way. As the story of the month goes, CM Punk has reportedly walked out on the WWE and is not expected to work any WWE live event, including WrestleMania XXX, for the foreseeable future.
Cole, Lawler, and JBL kicked off the night with a few insults hurled directly at Punk and the “smarks” that were chanting his name. Just as ring announcer Justin Roberts revealed to thousands of WWE fans in attendance on Feb. 10 that “Monday Night Raw” was about to go live, the crowd began to chant for CM Punk. This is when Cole chimes in with, “Oh there you go. That’ll drown out soon. How about, ‘GO AWAY’.” Lawler then begins to chant, “GO AWAY. That [CM Punk chant] doesn’t last long does it?” JBL then sneaks in a comment saying, “there’s not a lot of determination behind that chant,” effectively insulting both the fans and CM Punk. You can hear these comments in the video below.
Seth Rollins of the Shield also acknowledged Punk and the “CM Punk” chants. During the Dean Ambrose and Mark Henry United States Championship Match, the fans began to chant for Punk once more, which prompted Rollins to grab a live mic and address the WWE Universe during a commercial break. The content can be seen on WWE.com, as it was broadcasted live on the WWE App on Feb. 10. Rollins said, ”
Rollins took the mic and said, “CM who? That’s Dean Ambrose right there, that’s the United States Champion! That’s the man you all wish you could be, and that’s the man all your ladies want to be with tonight!”
While no one knows much about the Punk situation in its entirety, it seems as if some of his fellow employees have legitimate issues with what has transpired. Perhaps the heat on Punk is real, and not just a figment of everyone’s imagination. Let us know what you think below. Do you think this whole Punk situation is an angle for a WWE storyline, or do you think he legitimately walked out on the company?
