Samoa Joe Rumored to Debut for NXT on May 20
According to reports, former TNA Champion Samoa Joe is rumored to be debuting for WWE’s “NXT” brand on May 20 during the “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” event on the WWE Network. As previously reported, Joe has been talking with WWE about coming in and joining the NXT roster for months.
Reddit user Falcon Arrow, who has broken insider reports about WWE news before, claims that Joe has officially signed a multi-year deal with the company, with two-years being the least amount of time guaranteed on the contract. Whether or not this contract states that Joe will only work for NXT during his tenure is yet to be confirmed, but he is rumored to be signed to at least two-years by WWE.
The report from the “WWE insider” also states that Joe should be making his NXT debut during “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” on May 20. Rumors surrounding the No. 1 Contender Triple Threat Match have stated that someone would be replacing Hideo Itami at the event, since Itami will be out for six-to-eight months rehabilitating a shoulder injury. Joe may be who the company decides to put in Itami’s place.
If not there, it’s also been discussed for Joe to appear at the end of the event to stand face-to-face with NXT Champion Kevin Owens, who is expected to defeat Sami Zayn and retain his championship on May 20. Zayn is expected “leave” NXT to rehab his shoulder as well, and then make the move from NXT to WWE’s main roster.
We’ll have more on this developing story as details become available, but as of right now, Joe’s commitment to the NXT brand, and his possible “TakeOver” debut are strictly rumors.
Editor’s Note:
Joe coming in is best for business. The guy needs a good NXT/WWE run to end his career.
