In a promo set to air within the next four weeks on “NXT” programming, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn claims that he will be out-of-action until 2016 due to the status of his shoulder. As previously reported, Zayn had been dealing with shoulder issues for sometime, and recently had surgery on his rotator cuff.
Rotator cuff surgery usually requires three-to-six months of rehabilitation, which is why many believed that Zayn would be able to return to in-ring competition in October. However, Zayn stated during an interview recorded during the latest set of “NXT” tapings on June 18 that he will not wrestle again during 2015.
He did say that he would be at his best ever upon his return, and that he would be coming after Kevin Owens and the NXT Championship. However, Zayn was reportedly set to be leaving “NXT” programming for the WWE main roster before his shoulder status became severe.
Many question whether or not Zayn will return to “NXT” television at all upon his return, as the money in his return is with Zayn going after the “man that put him on the sidelines” in Owens, who is now on the main roster and is not expected to remain on “NXT” programming following the Summer.
Editor’s Note:
I would LOVE Zayn to be a surprise entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble Match. He’d get a MONSTER pop, especially if he comes in and eliminates Owens from the Rumble. That could get us to Zayn vs. Owens III at WrestleMania 32.
