Rumors regarding Rob Van Dam’s WWE contract have continued to grow since WWE Battleground. While multiple stories about what his contract might be have hit the internet, it seems as if no one really knows except RVD and the WWE what their deal truely looks like.
Van Dam finishes up his first run in the WWE since 2006 this week, but not before proving his worth to the company. Fans still love RVD, he still performs at the top of his game, and he can be a huge asset to the main roster. WWE.com has published an article stating that Van Dam is taking time off due to the amount of losses he’s seen since performing, but we all know that’s not the case.
One of the rumors surrounding Van Dam and the WWE is that he didn’t sign a contract extension and therefore is now in bad favor with the company and is now a free agent. It seems unlikely that the WWE would let that happen, judging from his performance in and out of the ring since Money in the Bank.
Another rumor, which was reiterated Monday morning by PWinsider.com, states Van Dam IS still contracted to the WWE, but will work 90 days on, 90 days off. This makes his contract lengthier, but give Van Dam breaks from the road every now and then.
IF the 90 days on/off situation is what we’re truly dealing with, it would mean that Van Dam would be written off television (likely with a shoulder injury), and return around the Royal Rumble in January. That way he could work an entire WrestleMania program with someone like Alberto Del Rio yet again.
