Rob Van Dam is back and will work for WWE until SummerSlam. The former WWE and ECW Champion made his return to the company during the April 7 edition of “Monday Night Raw” after teasing his resurgence for months-on-end.
As we previously reported, WWE officials wanted Van Dam back in the fold prior to WWE “Extreme Rules,” which will take place on May 4. Van Dam was spotted by numerous fans in New Orleans leading up to the April 7 “RAW,” and many speculated on if his return would happen during the thirtieth anniversary of WrestleMania or on the company’s flagship television program.
Van Dam would again become “Mr. Monday Night” on April 7 as he made his way to the ring and quickly disposed of Damien Sandow with a Five-Star Frog Splash. While there is no word yet on who Van Dam will work with throughout the next few months, he is not expected to have Ricardo Rodriguez re-join him as his personal ring announcer.
PWInsider.com claims Van Dam has signed on through August, then he will take another multiple month hiatus from the company to enjoy “Rob time.”
Editor’s Note: It’s always good to see Van Dam back in the ring. He’s always been an amazing worker in my opinion. We saw him in New Orleans on Friday, April 4 cutting a flip into a bar crowd, and it blew me away. Van Dam truly loves his fans, and will definitely give the company his all until he takes his next break shortly after SummerSam in August.
