A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an inside look on how much money TNA Wrestling offered to AJ Styles during their latest contract negotiations. As we previously reported, Styles announced on December 16th that he is no longer employed by TNA Wrestling, and the reason for this may very well be because of the amount of money that Styles was offered to stay with the company.
According to reports, TNA offered Styles a contract that would pay him something in the range of $200-thousand a year. However, it was not a guaranteed contract, and was constructed around appearances which would allow TNA to pay him less if they were to cut back on live events throughout the contractual year. Styles had reportedly been earning around $350-thousand prior to this offer.
As we previously reported however, there are those that speculate on whether Styles is completely done with TNA, or if his announcement in regards to leaving the company is part of the most recent storyline that he was involved in on TNA television. As the speculations are merely rumors at this point, there are many working behind-the-scenes at TNA Wrestling that believe Styles has actually agreed to a new contract and that he will be returning very soon.
Reports claim that the Undisputed TNA World Heavyweight Championship match between Styles and Magnus was shot before a new deal was struck between TNA and Styles, so Styles telling everyone that he was done was very real at the time. Time will tell if Styles is really gone, or just working everyone into believing that he is.
