Latest on Daniel Bryan’s Health and WWE Status
WWE Intercontinental Champion Daniel Bryan has been removed from advertisements and promotional material for all WWE Live Events and television tapings through June 9. As previously reported, Bryan was removed from WWE’s European Tour in April, was pulled from his title defense at “Extreme Rules,” and is expected to miss at least six weeks, if not more.
The extent of Bryan’s health issues are in question, as neither Bryan, nor WWE have provided detailed information in regards to his current injuries. All WWE sources have been noted as saying is that the IC title holder is “banged up.” WWE did provide a statement in regards to Bryan being removed from the early European Tour, but they did not provide details about what is plaguing the American Dragon.
Bryan recently spoke out about his condition in an interview, saying that he didn’t know how wrestling in his previous style would affect his health following his 2014 surgery, and that he had to go at it full-force to find out if his body could take it. However, it appears that it may not be able to hang with his high-risk style, and his previous complications with his neck and arm may be returning.
Bryan was busted open in a match with Sheamus and Bad News Barrett while overseas during a “Smackdown” taping, leaving his forehead laden with staples. This led to rumors about Bryan sustaining a concussion, which is why he is out for four-to-six weeks.
While other reports claim the injury is not a concussion, it could be that WWE doesn’t want news of one of their top stars suffering a concussion to hit the airwaves while the company is under legal fire from former superstars claiming that WWE doesn’t care about the health of their talent. The company had a lawsuit brought against it from three former superstars, complaining about their policies on working hurt, through concussions, and more.
This is rumored to be the reason the company has also had WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins change his finish from the Curb Stomp, so that there isn’t a move showcasing someone smashing someone else’s head into the mat violently night, after night, after night.
While no one but the WWE office, Brie Bella (Bryan’s wife), and Bryan currently know the full extent of what’s going on, Bryan is not scheduled to compete or appear at WWE events until mid-June at the earliest.
Editor’s Note:
It sounds like it could have been a mix of a lot of things. Concussion, neck issues, etc. I really hope they just come out and inform everyone of what’s wrong with him soon so the speculation can end. He’s the most popular guy on the roster. No matter the extent of his injuries, WrestlingRumors.net wants to continue to wish Bryan a speedy and full recovery.
