A new report from F4Wonline.com has provided new information as to why Josh Mathews was released from his WWE contract. As previously reported, Mathews was let go from his duties as a WWE announcer on June 25.

Mathews’ release was reportedly a shocker to many within the company, who thought Mathews was seen as more valuable than actually expressed. His “future endeavoring” was merely budgetary according to reports, as WWE has been making cuts in all departments in order to trim their bottom line.

When looking at the roster of announcers for the company, Mathews, even with seniority, was ranked at the bottom of the list, thus initiating the end of his career. Mathews is already booking independent dates, although it is unsure if he will be announcing or wrestling.

Editor’s Note:
Sucks, but think about it. Aren’t there some guys announcing for WWE that are just better? Yep. So if they’re trimming the fat, and are eliminating the guys that have been given opportunity after opportunity to , but that have never proven themselves to be really worth keeping, why does this really surprise people?
