John Cena Suffered a Broken Nose During “RAW”

United States Champion John Cena suffered a broken nose during “RAW” on July 27. The injury was sustained during the main event of the program, which saw Cena defend his US Title successfully against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

During the closing five minutes of the bout, Rollins went for a high knee to the face of Cena, who leaned into the move just a little too much. The “potato” shot, or actual blow to the face, wound up breaking Cena’s nose severely. Doctors immediately rushed the ring to check on Cena, who pushed them away and said that he wanted to finish the match at hand, which he did, defeating Rollins with the STF.

WWE.com then provided an update on his condition saying,

“WWE.com can confirm that U.S. Champion John Cena suffered a broken nose in the main event of Raw as a result of a knee to the face from WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

‘As you can see on television tonight, John suffered from a nasal fraction,’ confirmed WWE physician Dr. Steve Daquino. ‘He’s got quite a bit of displacement, so we sent him over to the local emergency room so he can be evaluated by the ears, nose and throat doctor who’s on call tonight and see what can be done to properly repair it.’”
