Former WWE Champion John Cena may have suffered a knee injury during the Feb. 24 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” During a segment involving the Wyatt Family, Cena reportedly felt his knee shift as he was driven to the mat by Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan with a Single Leg takedown.

PWInsider.com is reporting that the knee injury is legitimate and not part of the Cena vs Bray Wyatt angle for WrestleMania XXX. As Rowan was throwing Cena down, he held on to only one leg, causing Cena to shift his weight to one side as his leg stayed stationary. Cena immediately showed signs of pain and kept the Wyatts from attacking his leg by holding them underneath the ropes while they stomped on his torso.

Cena then tried to finish the planned segment and hopped on one leg into some other attacks, but instantly called for paramedics once the cameras were off of him. “Monday Night Raw” cameras would then document Cena being loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital, while Michael Cole provided updates on Cena’s condition, which make many people think that this injury could in fact be a work and something that was created for the Cena vs. Wyatt angle.

WWE continued to report on Cena’s condition during the first edition of WWE Network’s “RAW Backstage Pass.” During the live post-show, footage of the before mentioned segment that saw Cena suffer his “injury”  was shown, followed by Cena telling physicians that he felt his “knee pop on the stupid, stupid single-leg” takedown. He also stated that he couldn’t put any weight down on it.

WWE talent Tom Phillips then spoke with Dr. Raymond of the WWE medical team, who said, “John felt his knee shift.” He also said Cena was indeed at the hospital, but had refused an MRI. The WWE medical staff will be keeping an eye on his symptoms to see what steps need to be taken next.

While talking about Cena’s proposed injury on live television and post-shows may seem like the company just informing the public about Cena’s condition, it usually means that the injury is not nearly as serious as it looks. It also means the injury could be fake, and as part of the angle, Cena will have to overcome not only hate, but a bum knee to defeat Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX.

WrestlingRumors.net will keep you up-to-date on this situation as more details are released on whether this injury is a shoot, or a work.
