WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will not appear in “WWE 2K16” any longer. As previously reported, WWE has decided to terminate all of Hogan’s contracts with the company, and not promote him with their brand again, at least for the foreseeable future.
A transcript of racial slurs that Hogan used during a secretly filmed tape in the home of celebrity radio host Bubba the Love Sponge was given to WWE on the evening of July 23, then exposed through The National Enquirer on July 24. This revelation of Hogan’s words behind closed doors sparked a media fire that has yet to cease burning.
WWE quickly terminated Hogan’s contracts, removing him from their website, refusing to sell anymore Hogan merchandise, replacing him on WWE “Tough Enough” with possibly two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, among other things. Hogan’s lawyer claims he resigned from WWE, but the company made a statement to The National Enquirer that they had terminated Hogan, meaning he was fired.
Another thing Hogan will no longer be a part of for WWE is the company’s video game line. The upcoming new installment, “WWE 2K16,” was set to have the largest roster in WWE history, including many WWE Legends, and Hogan was to be one of them.
With Hogan’s being excommunicated by WWE, video game website Polygon.com snagged the following quote from 2K Sports about WWE asking Hogan to be removed from the game. 2K Sports says,
“We are highly respectful of the way that our partners choose to run their business and manage our partnerships accordingly. We can confirm that Hulk Hogan will not appear in WWE 2K16.”
