Erick Rowan will be called “Big Red” on WWE TV for the foreseeable future. As heard throughout the Dec. 1 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” this is a nickname that the company wants to give the big man during his run as a babyface, which should remain strong past WrestleMania 31.
According to a list of nicknames, ring names, and catchphrases the WWE recently registered, “Big Red” is set to be Rowan’s nickname during his current run. During “RAW,” JBL seemingly came up with the name “off-the-cuff,” but that wasn’t the case.
Layfield was fed the name, and then he proceeded to call Rowan, “Big Red,” for the rest of the night. Michael Cole then joined in on referring to the former Wyatt Family member as, “Big Red,” during the main event segment.
WWE will be portraying Rowan as a “misunderstood genius-jack of all trades” during this babyface run. However, some fans find this confusing, as when Rowan was shown in vignettes featuring Bray Wyatt throughout October, he was labeled as a broken shell of a man that Wyatt put back together.
Regardless, Erick “Big Red” Rowan is expected to face Paul “Big Show” Wight at WWE “TLC” on Dec. 14, although an official match has not yet been announced.
Editor’s Note:
All I think about is Ricky Bobby telling people to not call him “Big Red,” because there’s only one “Big Red,” and that’s America’s #1 cinnamon chewing gum during the outtakes of “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.”
