In a press conference in Abu Dhabi on Feb. 12, Dolph Ziggler discusses WrestleMania 31 and if he’ll work a match on the card, which has been a recent question by fans and Ziggler alike. As previously reported, Ziggler campaigned for a match with Daniel Bryan at the event, and while the company initially thought the match would be a good fit for both men, it seems as if Vince McMahon and company now have different plans for the event.
Bryan has been added to the WrestleMania 31 main event backstage, just like in 2014. Due to fan reaction, McMahon believes Bryan might be better suited appearing in the match with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar on March 29. This leaves Ziggler either working a tag team bout with Ryback, competing in the second annual André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, or facing off against a returning star such as Sheamus.
Ziggler comments on his status for the event, saying,
“We have to see how “Fastlane” goes. There are so many things up in the air right now. I threw out an idea to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania because I thought he could have had a better showing at the Royal Rumble, as I thought I should have.
We didn’t do our best, I’m rooting for him to get that main event at WrestleMania and also for Roman [Reigns] and see how it plays out. If there is an opening for someone I will be the first to challenge someone.”
Editor’s Note:
So if the company DOESN’T do the Triple Threat Match between Bryan, Reigns, and Lesnar, Ziggler is saying he wants either Bryan of Reigns, no matter who the odd man out is. Would you want to see Reigns vs. Ziggler on the grandest stage of them all?
