The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided details on what main event matches are currently penciled in for WrestleMania 31. As previously reported, the main event WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is supposedly “locked in” in the eyes of WWE officials, but that is not the only main event match being discussed backstage. Other matches have been penciled in including ones that feature The Rock, Triple H, Sting, Undertaker, John Cena, and Rusev.

As previously reported, WWE’s current plan is to have Brock Lesnar defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena at the 2015 “Royal Rumble.” According to reports, Lesnar is expected to retain the championship during that bout and face the winner of the 28 annual Royal Rumble Match at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 in Santa Clara, California.

Currently, Roman Reigns is looked at backstage as the “next big thing” of this generation and is primed to win the 40-man Royal Rumble Match on Jan. 25. He would then go on to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. If creative’s current plan comes to fruition, Reigns will dethrone Lesnar on March 29 and begin a new era as champion. Lesnar will then contractually free from WWE, and he may return to UFC, according to reports.

It was reportedly recently that The Rock may face off against “The Game” Triple H on the Grandest Stage of Them All in 2015 as well. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is rumored to be a headlining member of the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame class, and is now said to be, “more than just a maybe,” when it comes to competing at WrestleMania 31. The Rock and Triple H tease a ‘Mania bout during the 15 anniversary “Smackdown” special that will air on the SyFy Network on Oct. 10, further strengthening the rumor that the two may clash again at the Grand Daddy of Them All.

Sting is someone else that the company wants to use at WrestleMania 31. While the former WCW and TNA World Champion has been very adamant about wanting to face The Undertaker at the event, nothing has been set-in-stone as of yet. However, Undertaker has been appearing in public a lot more frequently as of late, and recently told fans, “never say never,” about a return to action at WrestleMania 31. When asked if he would face Sting at the event, the “Dead Man” simply shrugged his shoulders, implying that he cannot talk about what is being put together behind-the-curtain.

Steve “Sting” Borden is expected to compete in at least one WWE match before retiring for good, and the company wants that match to happen at the 31 annual WrestleMania event. Triple H, John Cena, and Daniel Bryan are other competitors that Sting has expressed interest in working with.

John Cena vs. Rusev is also being discussed for the event. As previously reported, Cena is expected to challenge Lesnar at the 2015 “Royal Rumble” on Jan. 25. However, he is currently rumored to win that match via disqualification due to an attack from Rusev, much like the finish the WWE Universe saw at “Night Of Champions” where Seth Rollins cost Cena another WWE title reign. This would send Rusev and Cena into a two month feud on the “Road to WrestleMania,” and would likely solidify the young Bulgarian Brute as a main event heel character.

There are other major players being discussed for matches on the card, such as Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, and Randy Orton, yet no details have been revealed in regards to what types of feuds or programs they will be in at that time.

Hmmm…interesting…
