Triple H may face The Rock at WrestleMania 31. As previously reported, WrestleMania 31 plans are currently being constructed behind-the-veil, and Triple H vs. The Rock is one of the matches being discussed for the event.

According to F4Wonline.com, the company purposefully teases the match during the 15 Anniversary of “Smackdown” special, which airs on Oct. 10. The backstage segment, which can be read about in more detail here in our “Smackdown” spoilers report, features Triple H, The Rock, and Stephanie McMahon. It is reportedly a very entertaining, and also very deliberate segment of the show.

During their interaction, The Rock and Triple H take verbal jabs at one another, while also discussing who would win if they were to face each other in the ring again at some point. The Rock brings up WrestleMania 31’s main event as a possible spot for them to settle the argument, which Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes to be a deliberate tease for a match between the two.

Meltzer points out that WWE rarely has two legends talk about facing each other at WrestleMania again without some plans for them being drafted. At one time, Rock vs. Triple H was discussed for WrestleMania XXX, but that match obviously did not take place. It was rumored in 2013 that Triple H was set to face someone representing Vince McMahon in a match for complete control of WWE, but plans changed and “The Game” was involved with Daniel Bryan’s storylines.

The Rock was rumored to be one of the names discussed to appear as McMahon’s representative until the script was penned. “The Great One” was originally slated to work with current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at the event, but that did not materialize either.
