In Twitter posts through his official account, Damien Sandow comments on the “worked shoot” promo he gave during “RAW” on April 27. As previously reported, Sandow re-debuted somewhat as himself during the April 27 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” giving a “worked shoot” promo about how the WWE Universe getting behind him as Mizdow saved his job in WWE and that he is very thankful for that.
Sandow referenced his original “Intellectual Savior of the Masses/The Genius” gimmick that he held prior to becoming a comedic, “mocking-bird” character on WWE TV. He then noted that it was his time as Damien Mizdow that saved his career, only because WWE fans were entertained by it.
He also noted that he was told to his face by officials (likely Vince McMahon) that he wasn’t entertaining enough, which is why he began his “quest to entertain.” The officials have heard the fans’ response for Sandow, and now he has a job and is being recognized as someone that can entertain the “unwashed masses.”
Curtis Axel would interrupt Sandow, who would then imitate Axel to the point of frustration, and the segment ended with Sandow dropping the Elbow of Disdain and the Hulk Hogan Atomic Leg Drop on Axel. Sandow would then go back to the backstage area and conduct an interview with Renee Young, where he imitated her in an entertaining WWE App segment.
Once Sandow was done performing for the fans during “RAW,” he took to Twitter to thank them some more, and claim that he meant everything he said in the promo, even that the WWE brass in the back didn’t think he was entertaining enough to remain a WWE superstar and that the fans are what saved his job. Sandow writes,
For the record I meant every word I said tonight. WWE Universe thanks for listening, and lettin’ em know how you feel. #honesty

People said I was a novelty/sideshow/ & could not stand alone. For everyone that has been knocked down again and again. Keep getting up!

Editor’s Note:
This was a major high point of “RAW” for me. Sandow getting a re-birth as a new character is awesome. Loved the new theme, and hopefully he gets a stand-alone match at WWE “Payback” on May 17.
