According to a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, attorneys for CM Punk have made contact with WWE over royalties and use of his likeness. As previously reported, Punk walked out on World Wrestling Entertainment on Jan. 27, just one night removed from the “Royal Rumble,” and did not work for the company for the last six months of his contract.
Attorneys reportedly issued a 22 page letter to WWE executives recently in regards to the company’s use of Punk’s likeness and the lack of royalties their client has been receiving. As previously reported, WWE continued to pay Punk royalty checks for some time after he stopped working, but WWE reportedly stopped payment at some point sighting that Punk, real name Phil Brooks, was in breach of his contract.
The letter addressed the royalty payments and use of his likeness, especially his name and image being used in the upcoming “WWE 2K15” video game that is set to release in the USA on October 28. The story mode and roster for the game was made prior to Punk exiting the company, and WWE, as well as 2K Sports, are moving ahead with Punk being a major part of the game.
Punk will be featured in the “Showcase” mode, which will track and cover the rivalry that Punk shared with John Cena from 2011-14. When the rivalry mode was announced on Aug. 11, Punk took to Twitter to seemingly share his thoughts on the matter,
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Full details regarding what Punk’s attorneys are asking for are still unknown.
