WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is not currently advertised for WWE television past “Night Of Champions” on Sept. 21. While Lesnar was originally scheduled to appear during the Oct. 21 “Smackdown” tapings in Wichita, Kansas prior to “Hell In A Cell,” he is no longer listed in the written advertisement on the arena’s website, though he does still appear in their video ad.
Lesnar currently has a new deal with WWE which allows the company to book him when they want him for extra dates as champion. While these dates require the company to pay Lesnar more than they were originally contracted to do so, recent reports claimed WWE would be taking advantage of this deal in the upcoming weeks due to their desire to keep Lesnar as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The next feud for Lesnar is rumored to be a run with the Big Show, however plans may have changed since the program was previously penciled in on the company’s agenda. WWE’s flagship program “Monday Night Raw” drew a very low rating on Sept. 15, which featured a major segment between Lesnar and his “Night Of Champions” opponent John Cena. With the WWE fan base constantly sharing their disapproval with the product on Social Media (and even in the ratings on Sept. 15), WWE officials and creative team are now rethinking their plans for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Reports now claim that there is a strong possibility that Cena may win back the WWE’s most prestigious title on Sept. 21 at “Night Of Champions,” which would lead to the company not needing Lesnar on television much going forward. As the company continues to tease a Cena heel turn, the much debated drastic change in Cena’s WWE character is not expected (which would make it the perfect time to initiate the turn IMO).
However, the possibility of a Seth Rollins Money in the Bank cash-in is always on the radar as well. One creative idea pitched by WWE writers has Cena defeating Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, only to see Lesnar destroy Cena following the match, which would set up a Rollins cash-in. Rollins vs. Cena is currently being advertised for WWE Live Events following “Night Of Champions” on Sept. 21, which leads some to believe this creative direction may be the route WWE takes.
The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter even acknowledges that the finish to the title match at “Night Of Champions” sets the tone for the company going forward. If Lesnar loses, he will likely not hold the title again before WrestleMania 31, and will probably work a match on Mar. 29 with either The Undertaker, The Rock, or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, with Austin being the most likely of the three.
No matter the outcome on Sept. 21, Lesnar is not currently listed on any WWE Live Event or televised event card. While WWE can always add a date last minute should they decide to keep Lesnar champion, there is a very strong possibility the WWE World Heavyweight title gets placed on a different superstar at “Night Of Champions.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, huh?
