Former WWE Champion Big Show is set to star in the upcoming action film “Vendetta,” which will be a joint venture between WWE Studios and Lionsgate. Deadline.com confirms that WWE Studios and Lionsgate have agreed to a six-movie deal, which “Vendetta” will be a part of.

“Vendetta” will be directed by the same set of twin sisters that took the chair to direct the upcoming Kane flick, “See No Evil 2,”  Jen and Sylvia Soska. Below is a brief synopsis for the film.

“Vendetta,” written by Justin Shady, tracks a hard-nosed detective who deliberately commits a crime to get sent to prison, where he seeks vengeance on the crook serving a life sentence for murdering the detective’s wife.

The sole purpose, according to the report, is for each movie produced in this six-film deal to feature a WWE superstar in the lead role. “Vendetta” stars Big Show Paul Wight and will begin filming in the Fall of 2014. Lionsgate Co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks had this to say regarding his company and WWE’s longstanding partnership in the world of film,

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Michael and his WWE team on a series of modestly budgeted action films that extend our longstanding and successful partnership. We have a strong track record in this genre, and we’re delighted to team with the WWE juggernaut to deliver action-packed event films that will resonate with their global fan base and beyond.”

WWE Studios and Lionsgate have produced a number of films together, which include “The Condemned,” “See No Evil” and the upcoming “See No Evil 2,” and Hornswoggle’s upcoming feature “Leprechaun: Origins.”

Editor’s Note:
I dunno about the Big Show being the lead role in an action film. Does anyone else not think he might be too slow to really make a great action hero?
