Former WWE Champion Batista is returning to the WWE. The Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada is advertising “the special return of “The Animal” Batista” on February 16th, 2014, possibly confirming previous reported rumors of his return.
The venue does not claim that Batista will compete in active competition, but does announce that this is a “special return” for the former champion. Batista, who has held the WWE Championship twice throughout his career with the company, has not wrestled in a WWE ring since May 23, 2010.
Throughout the last three years, Batista has stated that he left the company because he didn’t like being a part of the PG-Era product, but began to hint at a return to the WWE in late 2012. After landing large, supporting roles in movies like Riddick and the upcoming Marvel summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy, Batista now seems ready to at least make some sort of special “part-time run” again in the WWE.
As we previously reported, speculation has been running wild over whether or not Batista has been asked to compete in a match at WrestleMania XXX. The WWE Live Event in Las Vegas that Batista is being advertised for however is labeled a “Road to WrestleMania” Live Event. The advertisement for the show reads as follows,
WWE’s Road to Wrestlemania will make a stop at Las Vegas’ Thomas and Mack Center on Sunday, February 16. Don’t miss your favorite WWE Superstars including: CM Punk, The Shield, Big Show, Kane, the WWE Divas and much more! Plus, see the special return of “The Animal” Batista, LIVE!
This does not confirm that Batista will indeed compete at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, LA, but it does confirm that “the Animal” is returning to the WWE in some form or fashion, even if his appearance will be merely an in-ring segment.
