A new report from PWInsider.com has provided some backstage information regarding the “RAW” debut of Adam Rose. Rose, who made his first on-camera appearance during the company’s flagship program on May 5, purposefully did not compete in a match, which allows for the company to introduce the character to the WWE Universe more slowly and with intentionality.
Vignettes hyping up the arrival of Rose have been playing during WWE programs for weeks, steering the “Exotic Express” straight to “Monday Night Raw,” where Rose would make his big debut in a segment featuring Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger. Colter was revealing his “Deportation Wish List” to the WWE Universe when Rose would emerge from the back, with plenty of “Rosebud” groupies that made their way down to the ring along side of their “pied piper of partying,” Rose.
Rose would ultimately tell Colter to stop being a “lemon,” and to become a Rosebud. After tossing a physical threat in Swagger over the top rope, then Rose and his lackeys would proceed to dance around the ring before heading back up to the backstage area.
Rose was reportedly kept out of a match during his debut so that the company could reveal the character to the masses 5 minutes at a time before sticking him in a match while there isn’t much of an awareness of what the Adam Rose character is all about. We should not expect to see Rose compete in a main roster match until WWE “Payback” on June 1.
Editor’s Note:
It’s a gimmick which features a character that is the cross between Austin Powers and Aldous Snow. I think it could work to a certain level. Obviously not a main event level, but it’s a step up from the Fandango gimmick IMO.
