Sal Siino, Senior Vice President for Global Content Distribution and Business Development, was fired after it was discovered that his wife was behind a Twitter account that tweeted messages containing many Anti-Muslim statements.
One of Siino’s primary responsibilities was to negotiate TV deals in the United Arab Emirates, whose population is almost entirely Muslim. The company held tryouts there in 2017, thanks in part to Siino’s efforts.
However, when WWE learned that Amy Jane Mekelburg, who is behind the @AmyMek account on Twitter, is Siino’s wife, they terminated his employment immediately.
In addition, they released the following statement:
“Now that it has come to our attention, Sal Siino is no longer an employee.”
Mekelburg has now blamed Luke O’Brien, who is the author of the original article for the Huffington Post, for her husband’s termination. You can see that tweet below:
ALERT! I NEED YOUR HELP – This is SHOCKING!
Contact the @HuffPost and demand reporter Luke O’Brien stop endangering me and my family. He has threatened to reveal my identity putting me and my family at great personal risk. But it's MUCH worse than you can imagine…
