PWInsider Elite is reporting some new information regarding Sting’s appearance on last night’s episode of “Monday Night Raw.”
The decision to have Sting face Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “Night of Champions” was pitched only a week ago by WWE creative, and the plans were finalized just a few days before “SummerSlam.”
Regarding the segment which closed “Raw,” Sting was placed in the box that he appeared in backstage, and remained there the whole time that it was forklifted out to the arena and into the ring before the angle took place.
There had been reports that Sting was going to be New York City for “Raw,” but it was unknown in what capacity he would be used. Rumors had been circulating that he would be used in a segment with The Undertaker to set up a potential dream match between the two, but once reports came out that ‘Taker was no longer in New York, those rumors were put to rest.
Editor’s Note:
It doesn’t matter to me how or why it happened, I’m just glad that Sting is back. However, I have this strange suspicion that John Cena is not out of the World Title picture just yet…
