2. Sting’s First Match in a WWE Ring
Ever since the Monday Night Wars in the late 1990s, there had always been a hope that one day, Sting would step foot inside of a WWE ring. Fans finally got their wish at WrestleMania this year, as “The Vigilante” went one-on-one with one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time in Triple H.
The reason that this moment is so high on the list is not for the match itself; honestly, I felt that it was mediocre at best. The whole DX vs. nWo thing was kind of lame in my opinion as well. But the historical significance of Sting’s wrestling debut in WWE cannot be overlooked.
Sting never made the jump to WWE when WCW was bought out by Vince McMahon in 2001. He spent a good amount of time in TNA, but for close to 20 years many fans were wondering if “The Icon” would take the plunge and compete for the top company in sports entertainment.
Many had hoped that Sting would compete against The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but with his most recent injuries, it looks like that might not happen. Nonetheless, we can all agree that the nostalgia that was felt when we saw Sting walk down a WWE ramp was awesome, and is a moment that we will never forget.
