6. Roman Reigns Wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship…Again
We all knew that eventually WWE was going to pull the trigger, and allow Roman Reigns to become the face of the company. Little did we know that when they did, the majority of us would be happy about it.
When Roman Reigns won the World Heavyweight Championship a few weeks ago on “Monday Night Raw,” the feel behind it was different than anything else we’ve seen with him up to this point. Perhaps it had to do with Vince McMahon showing up earlier in the show and threatening Reigns’ career if he did not with the strap, or maybe it was the excellent match that he had with Sheamus for the title. Either way, a Brooklyn crowd that has known to be hostile to Reigns in the past, was standing on their feet and cheering wildly at the end of the show after Reigns had climbed to the top of the mountain.
This can only been seen as simply brilliant booking by WWE. They knew that they’ve wanted Reigns to be one of the top players in the company for a long time, but they had to do it in a way where the fans would buy in. The subtle change in his persona has been nice to see too, as he is becoming more of that ‘bad-ass’ type character that we all thought of him as when he debuted with The Shield.
Either way, there is no question that the Roman Empire has arrived.
