While there’s never a good time for an injury, this may be one of the worst ones we’ve seen in a while.

We are receiving reports that Tommaso Ciampa was injured at an NXT live tonight in Highland Heights, Kentucky. He was teaming with his partner, Johnny Gargano in a match against SAnitY, and jumped off the ring apron onto Eric Young. However, he landed awkwardly and did not get up following the move.

The referee threw up the “X” signal and stopped the match. Ciampa hobbled to the back on one leg, with Gargano following him, seriously worried.

Below are some pictures that have surfaced on Twitter:

Ciampa and Gargano, known as #DIY, are scheduled to face The Authors of Pain for the NXT Tag Team Championships at “NXT Takeover: Chicago” this Saturday. There has been no comment by WWE at this time.

We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available to us.

Special thanks to Terry O’Brien Jr. for sending in the report.

Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa - First Round Match: Cruiserweight Classic, Aug. 3, 2016

Editor’s Note:

This sucks. I feel that #DIY’s move the main roster was all but imminent; this may now be delayed due to the injury. I’m a huge Ciampa fan and I hope that this is not too serious.
