As first reported by ESPN, and confirmed by Michael Cole tonight at the “Royal Rumble,” former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey has officially signed a contract to be a full-time WWE superstar. She made a surprise appearance at tonight’s “Royal Rumble” event, at the conclusion of the Women’s match that closed the card.
Below is a tweet from WWE showing Rousey’s interest in WrestleMania 34:

Below are some highlights from her interview with ESPN:
On becoming a WWE superstar:
“This is my life now. First priority on my timeline for the next several years. This is not a smash-and-grab; this is not a publicity stunt,” Rousey told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne of her decision to join WWE. “When I first met with Triple H, I told him, ‘There are other things I can do with my time that’ll make way more money, but I won’t enjoy nearly as much.'”
On waiting this opportunity to be a professional wrestler:
“It’s funny — it’s kind of like acting, in that it was something I always wanted to do but I never thought was in the cards for me,” Rousey told ESPN of wanting to wrestle professionally. “And now that I realize I really do have this opportunity, I feel like my 6-year-old self would totally kick my ass if I didn’t take it.”
Rousey had been seen at the “Mae Young Classic” this summer, and had been rumored to be in talks with Triple H for quite some time. Here is a video of her appearing on the WWE Network:
I cannot wait for this. This has obviously been a long time coming, and I have a feeling that she is going to be a major player in the ranks of WWE very soon!
