Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio today that WWE Cruiserweight champion TJ Perkins apparently has backstage heat to due his frequent sharing of his life story. Perkins was homeless before getting his big break in professional wrestling, and has been sharing that story on several media outlets, such as USA Today, and ESPN.
However, Meltzer said that Perkins has heat for this because there are several talents both inside and outside of WWE that have been in similar situations and have lost their homes as well.
According to Meltzer, “People are telling me that there’s too many guys [saying], ‘we were just like that too, what’s so special about that?”
Perkins is the current holder of the WWE Cruiserweight championship, and has been the champion since winning the Cruiserweight Classic earlier this month.
Editor’s Note:
This sounds like professional jealousy to me. Although several of the talents that are upset have similar stories, Perkins happened to be the one who made the most of his big break and is now a superstar on “Monday Night Raw.” While it is terribly unfortunate for anyone to lose their home and have to take drastic measures in order to survive, those people should be thankful that they have the current opportunities that they do, instead of being jealous of someone who is fortunate to have the current spotlight.
