It had been previously reported that WWE would be unveiling a new championship, as the Women’s Tag Team titles were coming in 2019. Tonight on RAW, we found out when exactly this plan will be coming to fruition.
On Alexa Bliss’ talk segment “Moment of Bliss”, she revealed that the first champions would be crowned at the 2019 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on February 17.
You can see the announcement below:
According to Bliss, three teams from Raw and three teams from Smackdown Live will compete inside the Elimination Chamber. The last team standing will be crowned the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Editor’s Opinion:
I will be the first one to say that I was very skeptical of this idea, as I didn’t feel that there were enough female superstars on the main roster to warrant tag team championships. However, if there will only be one set of titles, then whoever are the champions can compete on both Raw and Smackdown Live. That will create new and exciting feuds, plus give other superstars who are not in the main title picture something to do. I’m all in on this one!
