Below are some questions along with Dunne’s answers:
How does it feel to be only the second ever WWE UK Champion?
“It’s a crazy feeling. This whole year seems to have been one thing to the next – I blink and I miss it. When I think back to last November, when I had my tryout, it seems like every week there’s something new.
“From the UK tour we’ve got coming up, being at WrestleMania, getting to do NXT:TakeOver, being on NXT TV – every single thing feels like a new reason to pinch myself.”
Have you heard anything about this UK-only show and will it be on the Network?
“It’s still on the cards. I don’t know any more than anybody else, but like I said, I don’t think WWE have been quiet about the fact that’s what they’re aiming for.
People have been cynical about the Cruiserweight Classic, the UK tournament and Mae Young Classic – saying the WWE is looking to co-opt the indie scene and destroy it – are you living proof that’s not true?
“It’s infuriating for people to claim that… look at it: you’ve got girls from the Mae Young Classic who are still doing independents, you’ve got a WWE title that can be seen on independent shows, there’s multiple WWE talents on these UK independent shows.
“To hear things like, ‘WWE is trying to kill the independents’ or whatever, that’s the opposite of what seems to be happening, so I think those comments are completely absurd.”
They also discuss Tyler Bate, further collaboration between WWE and the Indies and more.
