If this current rumor is true, then it appears that WrestleMania 33 is going to be a slobberknocker!

According to a report from PWInsider, legendary play-by-play announcer Jim Ross will return to the “granddaddy of them all” to call the Universal Championship match between Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

The return is a part of a new deal that Ross has signed with WWE. It is some sort of Legends agreement, in which he will be appearing on the WWE Network in various capacities, as well as calling the occasional match on the company’s regular programming.

Ross has been working as a color commentator for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s weekly program on AXS TV. His new WWE deal will not keep him from maintaining that role.

It has been a difficult week for J.R., as his wife, Jan, recently passed away very unexpectedly. However, he is still working his WrestleMania week schedule, as he says it will help take his mind off of things. This new agreement was signed about 5 weeks ago, before this unfortunate news broke.

Editor’s Note:

It’s no secret that Jim Ross is the greatest play-by-play announcer in the history of professional wrestling. Although he has had his personal issues with WWE, I’m glad that they were able to reconcile their differences! It will be great to hear his voice at WrestleMania!
