The biggest story coming out of this past Sunday’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view was that The Miz successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Drew McIntyre to become the new WWE Champion. This is his second run with the title and the first in almost a decade.
However, there are a couple of interesting notes about The Miz as a result of becoming the new champion. First, as he mentioned on Raw this evening, he is the first-ever two-time “grand slam” winner, meaning that he has held every major championship on Raw more than once in his career.
Second, as a result of his WWE Championship win, The Miz enters into the Top 5 all-Time in terms of the longest gap between WWE Championship title wins. The list is as follows [h/t to WrestleVotes]:
1. Bob Backlund 5455 Days
2. Brock Lesnar 3988
3. Bruno Sammartino 3860
4. The Rock 3843
5. The Miz 3744

Editor’s Opinion:
I love stats like this. Seeing the ups and downs of the careers of WWE superstars of the years always fascinates me and this stat is no exception. Plus, it also shows just how long of a run that The Miz has had in WWE and how his tenure with the company has paid off with him once again being at the top of the mountain. I love this for him and can’t wait to see what he does with the title!
