The Rock and Mick Foley came together as a tag team in the late 90s, and as the “Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection,” captured the WWE tag team championships on three separate occasions.
However, a new team has emerged that just might be stranger than Foley and The Rock.
On ESPN’s “Off The Top Rope” this past week, Jonathan Coachman interviewed the unlikely duo of Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth. During the conversation, “The Coach” compared the two to the legendary “Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection.”
But who would be Mick Foley and who would be The Rock?
Ellsworth: “Well, [Coach] just compared us to The Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection. I guess I would be The Rock, right? And [Ambrose] would be Mick Foley.”
Ambrose: “[Ellsworth] hadn’t been in any movies, right? You haven’t been in a movie?”
Ellsworth: “No, not yet.”
Ambrose: “I would definitely be The Rock if one of us had to be The Rock. I’m taller and I would be, but then again, I am ‘The King Of The Death Match,’ so there. We’ll get [Ellsworth] to the gym and get you a better haircut. Maybe [Ellsworth] could be The Rock. Get [Ellsworth] some cool sunglasses. I’m going to remember [Ellsworth] said that.”
