In a video released on WWE’s official YouTube channel after “Monday Night Raw” this evening, Tom Phillips interviewed David Otunga backstage. In the interview, it was revealed that Otunga would be joining the commentary team for both WWE Main Event and Superstars.
In the above video, Otunga discusses his accolades inside of the ring. This includes being a two time tag-team champion with John Cena, a member of Nexus, and the captain of Team Johnny and “People Power,” who was victorious against Team Teddy at WrestleMania 28. He also talks about what he is looking forward to most about being on the commentary team.
Otunga has recently been an analyst on the “Raw” pre-show, replacing Alex Riley in the process. He has been a employee of WWE since 2010, when he and the other rookies from season one of NXT formed the Nexus.
Editor’s Note:
I’ve always been an Otunga fan, and think that this could be a perfect role for him. He has a lot of charisma, is good with words, and knows how to engage an audience with how he speaks. Being married to Jennifer Hudson isn’t a bad way to keep connections with mainstream media either.
