It was announced on “Smackdown Live” tonight, that Kalisto will have the opportunity to challenge Brian Kendrick of “Monday Night Raw” for the Cruiserweight Championship at “Survivor Series.”
However, the interesting caveat to this match is that if Kalisto wins the title, the entire cruiserweight division will move from “Monday Night Raw” to “Smackdown Live.”
The cruiserweight division has been exclusive to “Raw” since September of this year. Cruiserweights were first re-introduced to WWE programming through the “Cruiserweight Classic” on the WWE Network earlier this summer. TJ Perkins was the winner of the tournament, and was therefore crowned the first champion of the division.
Editor’s Note:
Now this is very interesting. On “Wrestling Warm-up” this week, myself, Josh Lopez and Liz Rainey all discussed how we thought that the cruiserweights would be a better fit for “Smackdown Live,” because their style of wrestling fits more with the type of show that the brand is trying to produce. However, if this ends up happening, how do you fill the time on “Raw” that the absence of the crusierweights creates?
