According to an event that is listed on WWE.com, “Clash Of Champions” will be taking place on September 25 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The “Night of Champions” logo is on the same website advertisement, indicating that “Clash Of Champions” may be the new name for this pay-per-view. That is unconfirmed at this point.
“Clash Of The Champions” was a series of special wrestling events that were aired on television by World Championship Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance between 1988 and 1997. They were intended to feature high-quality matches between the company’s top superstars, much like WWE’s “Saturday Night Main Event.”
“Night of Champions” has been a WWE pay-per-view since 2007. Previously known as “Vengeance,” this event is the one night of the year where every championship in the company is guaranteed to be defended.

Editor’s Note:
Yes! The “Clash Of The Champions” events were always some of my favorites growing up as a WCW fan. There was always a special sense of prestige and honor that was linked with these broadcasts, and bringing them back opens up a wide range of possibilities with the company, especially with the upcoming brand split. Let’s see if WWE continues this trend of revising historic pay-per-views going forward!
