The One-Winged Angel is flying away. According to a new report from Tokyo Sports, Kenny Omega is officially leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling to take his talents elsewhere. It is unknown where his destination is at this time.
Omega recently competed at Wrestle Kingdom 13, where he lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event. You can see Omega’s entrance from the event below:
It had been previously reported that Omega was going to be either heading to WWE or AEW, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. He had the following to say regarding his future:
“If I go to WWE, the fans there will be pleased, and the fans there will be pleased if I go to AEW. I want to be at a place where Kenny is going to be “happy.” I am not there, I will be gone, but as the contract with the new day pro remains until the end of the month, I avoided saying ‘I do not know what will happen myself.'”
We will continue to monitor this story and will provide any updates as they become available to us.
Editor’s Opinion:
I could see Omega making a one-off appearance in the Royal Rumble and then heading to AEW. Knowing his friendship with Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks, plus what he’s said about WWE in the past, I just don’t think he’ll go there full time.
