In May, we reported that her recovery was going well, and that things were moving along quite nicely.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer is reporting that although Bella has been training in the performance center for an in-ring comeback, she still has not been medically cleared to compete. The belief is that if she is eventually given the green light to wrestle, it will be on a part time basis only.
If she is cleared, Meltzer reports that she will be positioned as the star of “Smackdown Live.”
Bella’s last wrestling match came on October 25, 2015, when she failed to recapture the then WWE Divas Championship from Charlotte at the “Hell In A Cell” pay-per-view. Prior to this, she held the title for 301 days, making her the longest reigning Divas Champion of all time.
Editor’s Note:
Something tells me that WWE has not seen the last of Nikki Bella. If and when she makes a comeback to the ring, I expect her to be in the title picture almost immediately. Love it or hate it, she is probably the most marketable female superstar that the company has, and the attention that she draws from her appearances on “Total Divas” and now “Total Bellas” is hard to ignore.
