It’s official, there is a new record holder in town in NXT. But now we’re thinking that the same record holder could find her way into the Raw roster soon.
Asuka has been on a tear in NXT since winning the Women’s Championship in early 2016. Now, she has held the belt longer than any singles wrestler has held an NXT Title, with the record now standing at 311 days. Moreover, she has yet to lose a match since joining the company.
She has essentially done everything she can do within NXT at this point. So what’s next for someone so over in the young branch of WWE? Obviously, the natural progression would be to put her in the main roster, and that’s what some are speculating will happen soon.
Should the WWE make this move, she would be an immediate shoe-in to face Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Championship. She currently has Ember Moon coming up to contend for the title, so it is possible that she drops the belt to move up? Or will she retain for momentum in confronting Charlotte in the main roster, allowing the Women’s title to go to a tournament format?
Either way, I wouldn’t expect an immediate move, but Asuka’s days in NXT are numbered, and Raw is the only logical move for the budding star.
