For weeks, WWE superstar Bray Wyatt has called out The Undertaker in a series of promos and vignettes with the goal of enticing him for a one-on-one bout at WrestleMania 31.
Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez of “Wrestling Observer Radio” were first to report that Undertaker may be kept off television entirely until the big pay-per-view. He would simply use “mind tricks” to respond to Wyatt’s challenge.
The Five-Point Preview for “Monday Night Raw” on March 9 is teasing that Undertaker may be in fact be appearing live on the program, though:
“Is it desperation or calculation? Eager to get a response from The Undertaker and sate his desire for a WrestleMania clash with The Deadman, Bray Wyatt has taken possession of an all-too-familiar urn and vowed on SmackDown to “unleash its spirit” on Raw. Whatever that means exactly remains to be seen.
The Undertaker’s urn has long been regarded as a source of The Deadman’s power, and if Wyatt does indeed have this mysterious artifact in his clutches, The Phenom might have no choice but to re-emerge from oblivion and battle The Eater of Worlds on The Grandest Stage of Them All. The entire WWE Universe will be watching on Raw as Wyatt demonstrates why he has become The New Face of Fear.”
Undertaker hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since having his 21-0 winning streak snapped by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX.
Editor’s Note
WWE may simply be indicating that Undertaker will emerge in some way, shape or form to accept the challenge. Whether that leads to an actual appearance by the Deadman remains to be seen. Fingers crossed, though.
