The current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, has been the face of The Authority since aligning with the heel faction almost one year ago.
WWE COO Triple H mentioned how he sees a reflection of himself in Rollins during the “Architect of a Dream” segment on the May 18 edition of “Monday Night Raw.”
That line was WWE “planting seeds” to setup a HHH versus Rollins feud somewhere down the road, according to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Rollins retained his championship at WWE “Payback” in a Fatal 4-Way match by nailing Randy Orton with HHH’s finishing maneuver, the Pedigree. That was also WWE’s subtle way of teasing future tension between the two.
It was assumed that Rollins would be using the Pedigree as his new finisher moving forward after WWE reportedly banned his Curb Stomp – although it was later revealed that the vicious move is just being “swept under the rug.”
At WWE “Elimination Chamber” on May 31, Rollins will defend the title against Dean Ambrose.
He’s held the gold since cashing-in his “Money in the Bank” briefcase at WrestleMania 31, defeating Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in a Triple Threat match to close the show.
Editor’s Note
A HHH versus Rollins feud would imply that Seth is set to become a face. I, personally, don’t see WWE pulling the trigger on a face turn until they’ve figured out future plans for Roman Reigns. Rollins works perfectly as a heel – for the time being. No need to rush anything, although WWE has a history of doing such things.
