As previously reported, former WWE Tag Team Champion Tyson Kidd suffered an apparent spinal cord injury following a non-televised bout with Samoa Joe on June 1.
It was noted how the match was taped for an episode of WWE “Superstars,” but that was ultimately not the case.
WWE.com is now confirming that Kidd is indeed injured:
“Tyson Kidd sustained an injury while competing in a non-televised match against Samoa Joe last Monday night, June 1, in San Antonio. As the former WWE Tag Team Champion continues to be evaluated, check back with WWE.com for the latest information on Kidd’s condition.”
PWInsider.com reports that Joe is not receiving any blame backstage for the injury, as it’s believed that it was a freak accident that caused Kidd to get hurt and not negligence on Joe’s part.
Kidd and his partner, Cesaro, are scheduled to challenge The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship on a special WWE Network-exclusive show in Japan on July 4. The team has been removed from all other dates outside of this event.

KiddSaro, which we call the duo here at WrestlingRumors.net, was gaining incredible momentum in recent months after a respectable run with the titles. The timing of this injury absolutely sucks.
